RDS™ Radially Divided Seals (Split Seals):

Many pump types lend themselves towards the application of radially divided or “split” seals.  Large vertical pumps, close-coupled horizontal pumps, and other equipment, which require extensive disassembly to change the mechanical seal, are all good candidates for the RDS™ mechanically split seal.  Compression packing and the associated routine maintenance can be eliminated.

AES developed the RDS™ mechanically split seal to meet this market need.  The RDS™ split seal is easy to install, with minimal components to assemble.  Small parts such as springs are fully contained. AES mechanically split seals have been used extensively in municipal water, pulp and paper, and many non-hazardous applications in other industries.
